Economic profile

Almassora is a town with a privileged location, located in la Plana Alta in Castelló, flanked to the south by the Millars River, to the east by the Mediterranean Sea, to the north by Castelló and El Serrallo industrial estate, and to the west by Onda and Vila-real.

The municipality of Almassora has almost 5 million square metres of industrial land, distributed in 14 areas or industrial estates of different characteristics and sizes. The industrial land, therefore, accounts for 15% of the total surface area of the municipality, so it can be said that this is a town in which the presence of both industry and suitable land to house it is very relevant.

There are 544 companies located in the 14 industrial estates, which occupy a total of 1,011 plots of land.

The industrial sector is, after service sector, the second most important sector in the municipality of Almassora.

Furthermore, Almassora is a town where the circumstances are suitable for the settlement of industry and services. There is enough industrial fabric to create a Management and Modernisation Entity, in accordance with Law 14/2018, of 5 June, on the management, modernisation and promotion of industrial areas in the Valencian Community, which will help to revitalise and improve the quality of the industrial sector in the municipality.

SUPOI-8 Industrial estate

It is one of the most recently created industrial estates and the one with the largest plots by far. The ceramic sector is predominant. Taking also into account the storage of ceramics, the ceramics sector occupies almost 20% of the plots with activity and, overall, almost 65% of the occupied surface area of the industrial estate.

In the Pla de Museros estate, there is a wider diversity in terms of activities, with machinery standing out if we take into account the number of the occupied plots (13.73%), and waste treatment and management regarding the percentage of occupied surface area (27.39%). Other important sectors are industry and materials and vehicles as for the number of occupied plots, and food and construction regarding the occupied surface area.

It stands out for being a highly diverse estate where activities from many different sectors are located. Those occupying the greatest number of plots are furniture and machinery (13.71% and 11.29% of the plots respectively) while the one occupying the largest surface is the transport sector with 12.82% of the surface area.

Despite ceramics having a considerable weight in it, the industrial and materials sector stands out significantly by occupying 36% of the plots and 42.82% of the occupied surface area of the industrial estate.

In La Rambla industrial estate, the number of plots and the occupied surface area is more evenly distributed among the different activity sectors. Thus, the industrial and materials sector and the machinery sector stand out in relation to the number of occupied plots (21.62% and 16.22% respectively) and the percentage of the occupied surface area (19.06% and 16.13% respectively) while, in the latter case, the waste sector also stands out with 19.54% of the occupied surface area, and the furniture sector with 11.51%.

It is the one that brings together the most diverse sectors of activity. Nonetheless, in terms of plots as well as the occupied surface area, the presence of the industrial and materials sector significantly stands out with 10.88% of the plots and 11.08% of the surface area, followed by the machinery sector with 6.67% of the plots and 6.13% of the surface area.

The relative importance of the various sectors is more evenly distributed in terms of the number of occupied plots, but not in terms of surface area. The carpentry sector (8.33% of the plots but only 1.69% of the surface area), the machinery sector (8.33% of the plots but only 1.98% of the surface area) and the industry sector (7.05% of the plots and 2.57% of the surface area) stand out but, without doubt, in relation to the occupied surface area, the ceramics sector stands out with almost 70% of the surface area.

It stands out in plots as well as in the occupied surface area of the machinery sector (17.78% of the plot and 21.48% of the surface also considering its storage) and the food sector (10% of the plots and 19.81% of the surface area). The ceramics sector also gains significant relevance in terms of the occupied surface area with 13.51% of the surface area.

In SUPOI-2 industrial estate the ceramics sector stands out in relation to the percentage of the occupied plots (27.27%), however, the food sector stands out in relation to the occupied surface (31.21%), given that it is the sector occupying the larger existing plots in the industrial estate.

In SUPOI-3 industrial estate, on the other hand, the industrial and materials sector stands out, in terms of plots as well as occupied surface area 27.27% of the plots and 27.34% of the surface area), followed by the automotive sector (9.09% of the plots and 10.74% of the surface area).
