Geographical location

The industrial estates of Almassora are located in a privileged area, just 12 km from the port of Castelló de la Plana and the future intermodal station to be built next to it, and 39km from the airport, which is located in the town of Vilanova d’Alcolea. The port of Sagunto is 50km away, the port of Valencia 75km and the airport of Valencia 70km away. The industrial area of Almassora is crossed by the Valencia-Barcelona railway line as well as by three main roads; N-340 which divides the estates SUPOI-6 and SUPOI-7 and La Rambla de Ramonet and SUPOI-5; the link road N-340a which connects Almassora with Vila-Real and Castelló de la Plana, crossing the industrial area that connects these three cities and which, in Almassora, separates the Mijares industrial estate from Ramonet industrial estate; lastly, AP-7 which crosses the western part of the town, separating the estates SUPOI-8 and SUPOI-9 from the rest of the city’s industrial areas.

The permeability of the link road N-340a is very good, allowing access to contiguous industries at several points along its route through the municipality of Almassora. As a matter of fact, in the next few years, it is planned to transform this road into an urban boulevard including a cycle lane, sufficient space for pedestrians and landscaped areas. Nevertheless, to access the Mijares, SUPOI-1, SUPOI-2 and SUPOI-3 industrial estates from the N-340a it is also necessary to cross the Valencia-Barcelona railway line, which runs parallel to it, so it can only be accessed by three points, one on the south, one on the north, and one just over the northern boundary of the municipality. The N-340, however, is much more impermeable. In order to access the industrial estates of Almassora from the south, access must be via the junction with the N-340a, located on the border with Vila-Real, while access from the north must be via the junction with the CS-22 highway.

To access the industrial area of Almassora from AP-7, it is advisable to use the Castellón Sur exit of the highway which connects with N-340 about 2,5km north of the junction of the latter with the CS-22. Moreover, The CV-10 highway runs along the western boundary of the municipality, adjacent to the SUPOI-8 industrial estate. This one has an exit (Sitjar-Camí Fondo) which gives direct access to the SUPOI-8 and the future SUPOI-9. In addition, a few kilometres further north, the Castellón Sur exit connects with the CV-17 and again with the N-340, at the same point as the AP-7.

The CS-22 highway, in turn, connects the industrial areas of Almassora with the Port of Castelló and the future intermodal station to be built next to it, on the future southern rail access to the port.
