| This is the first step of the EGM of the industrial area after its approval in the last plenary session

Almassora Town Council has commissioned the company Sequoia Gestión Ambiental SL to draw up an Emergency Plan for the SUPOI-8 industrial estate. The council’s Contracting Department has awarded this minor contract to the Valencian company for an amount of 7,368.9 euros. The need for the creation of this document is included in the agreement between the Town Hall and the SUPOI-8 Management and Modernisation Entity (EGM), approved in the extraordinary plenary session held last Friday 28 October.

In this sense, the preparation of this Emergency Plan for the SUPOI-8 industrial estate will involve characterising and describing the possible risks, both internal and external, that may affect this industrial area. In addition, this document will guarantee the structure and organisation of the entire site with the aim of having different clear courses of action for all participants when facing possible unexpected mishaps on a day-to-day basis.

The creation of the Emergency Plan entails the following work: a detailed study of the specific characteristics of the SUPOI-8 industrial estate, a description of the surroundings of the industrial area, identification of all the establishments located on the site and their respective workers, analysis of the internal risks of the industrial estate with possible accident scenarios, a study of the external risks to which it is exposed, development of specific cartography and preparation of a complete project in this respect.

Thus, one of the first requests from the companies that make up the SUPOI-8 EGM will be fulfilled before the end of the year. This request was included in the agreement signed between the two institutions and approved last Friday at the extraordinary plenary session. For this, the council has entrusted the Valencian company, Sequoia Gestión Ambiental SL, the same company responsible for the preparation of the Municipal Territorial Plan for Emergencies.

Likewise, the EGM, with more than 40 participating firms, already has a board of directors chaired by the representative Neolith Distribución, the vice-presidency and treasury is held by Industrias Alcorenses Confederadas (Inalco), while the secretary’s office is held by Casfi. For their part, the following will be members: Industrias Dolz, Kerakoll Ibérica, Industria Verbenera Castellonense, Sigmadiamant, Thesize Surface, Olapar and the councillor for Territory, Carmina Martinavarro, representing Almassora Town Council.

Finally, Martinavarro declared that «this is the first achievement of the EGM of Camí Fondo after its approval last week, but it will not be the only one». «Among the objectives for next year are: accesses, wide roads and roundabouts, drainage of the rainwater and wastewater network, pedestrian routes and cycle paths, street lighting and fire hydrants, among others,» said the councillor for the area.
